Day Camp Overview - Ascent Adventures 2024

Adventure trips are based from Richmond Va. Each session has a max of 12 participants. Participant to Leader ratio is 1 to 6 at full capacity with 2 Ascent staff. A typical day with Ascent Adventures includes an adventure activity, a skill session learning outdoor fundamentals, a devotion and reflection (including journaling or mindfulness). With Ascent adventures, there’s no typical day - we adapt to a variety of challenges and changes ranging from traffic, weather, trail conditions and water levels (to name a few). Ascent thrives on flexibility and resilience needed to adventure in God’s design - nature - that’s why it’s called adventure, right?

Ascent also provides unique, one of a kind adventures. We are not like other RVA adventure companies where participants run through camps only to sign up for the same experience next year. Ascent is able to be creative and run adventures that are unique and different, each year - therefore, when reading the camps offered, know it is simply a snap shot of the week. Day camp weeks will always include more adventure than listed - guaranteed.

Logistics:

  1. Drop off times: 8:00 & Pick up 4:30 unless noted for special day trips. Drop off location: Meet at Stony Point Presbyterian on Burford Rd.

  2. Participants bring lunch, refillable water bottles and snacks each day. Ascent provides snacks and contactless - “pumped” filtered water from 5 gallon container.

  3. Gear: Basic gear for adventuring is typically provided by Ascent (ex. SUP/climbing/MTBK resources). Specific gear needed to participate will be listed by the focus of the weeks listed. Ascent has extra gear to rent based on inquiry.

  4. Project available spots for each camp is based on acceptance emails sent to applicants. Participants not accepted to applied camp(s) are automatically put on a waitlist, therefore Ascent encourages applying even after program is full.
